the thibault liger-belair estate is located in nuits-saint-georges. its origins lie in the creation of the etablissements c. marey in 1720. marey in 1720. marey will associate with the count louis liger-belair in 1852. the liber-belair family took over the management of the company in 1869 after the death of félix marey. in 1982, the trading house was sold by xavier liger-belair, who died in the process. his son vincent bought the buildings and started to create a real burgundian wine estate. in 2001, the estate (whose vines are in sharecropping), is taken over by his son thibault who, after studying oenology, had worked for the company ficofi, created by philippe capdouze. thibault liger-belair has become a reference in the field of winemaking and took over the family estate in 2001. the vines are cultivated organically and the yields are very controlled. in terms of vinification, thibault alternates substance and finesse according to the vintages and carries out a very important work of selection of wood in partnership with his two appointed coopers, limiting himself to a maximum of 50% of new barrels. depending on the cuvées and the vintages, the proportion of whole grapes varies without dogmatism, but the grapes are always harvested at high maturity. recently installed in a new winery powered by geothermal and solar energy, thibault liger-belair is a sincere winemaker who asserts an elegant and refined style, and his wines, vinified with sensitivity, never cease to enthuse us.
