Tenareze extends mainly over the department of Gers, stretching south over the Lot-et-Garonne. Crossed by many rivers, the Ténarèze is formed of valleys. It has a unique terroir formed of clayey limestone soils called Peyrusquet. The Armagnacs produced in this part of the region are more full-bodied. They require several decades of aging to fully express their complex aromas. They are most often used in the blending of eaux-de-vie marketed under the Armagnac appellation.
