The province of Mendoza, located in the central western part of Argentina, enjoys a hot and dry climate. The soils, rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, are made up of loose clayey-sandy soils at high altitude. The province is also fed by 4 large rivers flowing down from the Andes, irrigation being an essential factor in the development of the vine in this region.
Mendoza wines are produced from Chardonnay, Torrontés, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin, Viognier and Semillon for the white wines.
