what an incredible adventure for this burgundian estate, created by a japanese-korean couple in 2000. koji nakada is japanese, while his wife, jae-hwa, is korean. although both were initially inclined towards the restaurant industry in their respective countries (koji nakada having a background in sommelier training), the discovery of burgundy and its wines completely transformed their lives. it was during a training session in beaune that they met and decided to establish their own brand, with one business focusing on being a negociant-eleveur and another as a broker, specifically targeting the asian market. today, the lou dumont estate, located in gevrey-chambertin, owns vineyards mainly in the côte de nuit région (90%), as well as some in savigny, corton, meursault, and ladoix. they are blessed with magnificent terroirs that they honor through meticulous and rigorous work. koji ages his wines, mostly pinot noir, in the pure burgundian tradition (having spent time at bouchard aîné and mommessin), while also developing his own style: experimenting with a touch of exoticism on certain vintages, which is already becoming a sensation in japan! similar to their little daughter, léa, their wines are the result of the fusion of three cultures, and thus, represent an immeasurable wealth of diversity.
