"the cosse maisonneuve estate is a young estate in the south west. it was created in 1999 by matthieu cosse and catherine maisonneuve. they took root on the appellation cahors in order to make elegant and gourmet wines. matthieu cosse is an elder of the château la coste in provence and catherine maisonneuve is an elder of the château léoville las cases. both coming from reputable estates, they benefit from a solid experience of vine growing and winemaking. today, the estate has about 17 hectares of vines with as main grape variety malbec but also some merlot, gamay and cabernet franc. from the outset, they wanted to make authentic wines that respect the terroirs of cahors. they have therefore embarked on the biodynamic approach that represents a philosophy of respect for life. all the wines come from massal selections with small yields. the harvest is done by hand with several successive sorting. this allows to obtain the best quality of grapes possible in order to produce the best cahors. we have several favourites at the cosse maisonneuve estate and in particular the cuvée les laquets, a pure malbec from vines of 40 years on a calcareous plot. the cuvée la fage, which comes from a gravel clay terroir, a rather expressive wine from a young age. and how not to name the incredible cuvée la marguerite, a micro cuvée that is one of the best cahors on the market, probably the best. matthieu cosse and catherine maisonneuve are now considered the best wine producers in cahors. it is the result of meticulous work in all the stages of wine making. the cosse maisonneuve estate makes magnificent wines.
