"located in the beautiful colchaga valley, clos apalta casa lapostolle has become one of the most famous estates in chile. the microclimate of clos apalta combined with a preserved know-how is the keystone of the birth of exceptional artisan wines. on an exceptional terroir, the vineyard extends over 60 hectares of vines, some of which are over 80 years old. the 2018 vintage was one of the coldest of the 21st century in chile. cool and rainy, the winter of 2017 ensured sufficient water reserves in the soil. the mild temperatures and good light during the spring favoured optimal flowering, just as the moderate temperatures from december 2017 to mid-february 2018 allowed for progressive and qualitative fruit set and ripening. while the second half of february was marked by a clear rise in temperatures, accelerating ripening, particularly in the early grape varieties, the cool weather in march favoured the slow accumulation of sugars without loss of acidity, ensuring a good balance. the low rainfall in the autumn allowed the grapes to be harvested at full maturity. the harvest was generous and healthy, resulting in a vintage of great quality, aromatic, with a moderate level of alcohol and a beautiful freshness. clos apalta 2018 casa lapostolle is a blend of carménère (64%), cabernet franc (18%) and merlot (18%). colour the colour is a beautiful, deep purple red with subtle dark highlights. nose intense, the nose combines spices, red and black fruits and cedar notes. palate the mouth seduces with its elegant tannins and its optimal balance between finesse and concentration. round and fresh, the palate reveals a long-lasting finish."
