"at the beginning of the 20th century, etienne camuzet, a winegrower in vosne romanée and member of parliament for the côte d'or, decided to expand his estate and was very selective in the choice of the plots of land that he gradually acquired. he was the last owner of clos de vougeot, before it was transferred to the tastevin brotherhood. his daughter maria noirot bequeathed it to jean méo, father of jean-nicolas, who has been in charge since 1989. the aim of the estate is to make wines that combine structure and finesse, concentration and charm. with the help of henri jayer, advisor for vinification and maturation, a certain number of practices have been implemented to reach this objective: a strict limitation of yields with green harvesting which is systematically practiced even in the older vines. the méo-camuzet estate continues to exploit the mythical premier cru cros parantoux in vosne-romanée with emmanuel rouget, the ultimate legacy of jayer. at harvest time, a new selection is made on a sorting belt, the grapes are then 100% destemmed. the wines are aged in new oak barrels to ensure optimum ageing. bottling takes place after an average of 17 months in barrel. the wines are bottled by gravity, without filtration and, except in exceptional cases, without fining. thus, they do not undergo any trauma that could alter them. this is one of the greatest burgundian domains. a glance at the vosne-romanée wine list gives an instant indication of the quality of the wines of the 1er cru aux brulées. this exceptional parcel of land adjoins the richebourgs. the méo-camuzet domain signs a deep vosne, with aromas of red fruits, leather and musk. it needs at least 10 years of ageing to express itself fully."
