The wines of Castilla y León are produced in 317 localities belonging to the provinces of Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora.
They are characterized by the influence of the Mediterranean climate and its low rainfall, as well as the great variety of soils from which they come. Among the wines of Castilla y León, we find both local wines and wines belonging to denominations of origin, among which the following are the best known: D.O. Bierzo, D.O. Tierras de León, D.O. Toro, D.O. Cigales, D.O. Ribera del Duero, among others.
