Amarone della Valpolicella is an appellation derived from the wines of Valpollicella, in the Veneto region. The particular area of this appellation is located north of Verona, between the villages of Sant Ambrogio and Montecchia di Corsara. Amarone della Valpolicella was classified DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) in 2009.
Amarone della Valpolicella is made from the Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grape varieties and is a wine with a very long ageing potential. Fruity in the early years, the powerful flavors develop after 5 to 8 years of aging. This red wine is therefore of great complexity, and one of the most appreciated vintages in Italy.
