Tequila is a distilled liquor from Mexico. It is available in amber and colorless varieties. It is elaborated from the juice extracted from the agave tree, especially the one called blue agave (Agave tequilana), with denomination of origin in five states of the Mexican republic. It is perhaps the best known and most representative drink of this country in the world.
To be called tequila, the drink must be made in Mexico and certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). The name tequila is a denomination of controlled origin, recognized internationally, and designates the agave distillate made in specific regions of Mexico. Tequila is eaten dry, but it is best enjoyed with a little salt and lemon.
