The geographical area of the AOC Valençay includes fourteen communes in the north of the department of Indre, and one commune of Loir et Cher. Valençay an AOC since November 2003. The Valençay appellation area, with a surface area of approximately 140 hectares, is centered around the Gâtine forest and the small town of Valençay.
The white Valençay wines are produced from Sauvignon and Arbois, the Chardonnay is rarer and more recent. The characters of the Valençay appellation are admirably found in the vintages offered by Domaine Albane and Bertrand Minchin.
