The appellation Picpoul de Pinet is a sub-regional appellation of the Coteaux du Languedoc. The vineyard of the A.O.C. Picpoul de Pinet extends over an area of 1,300 hectares spread over the communes of Pinet, Pomérols, Castelnau-de-Guers, Montagnac, Mèze, Florensac. It is the largest white wine region in the Languedoc.
The soil was formed in the Pliocene by continental fluvial deposits. The climate of the Picpoul de Pinet area is of Mediterranean type with low rainfall and mild winters. The summer season is dry. The wines of Picpoul de Pinet are exclusively white wines made from the white Piquepoul grape variety conducted in short pruning of which the Cave de L'Ormarine offers pleasant examples.
