The AOC Seyssel is produced in the wine-growing area of the Savoy Foreland. The 80-hectare vineyard stretches over both banks of the Rhône at an altitude of between 200 and 380 meters. The soils are stony, gravelly and sandy below the commune of Seysse. The soils are, on a thickness of 15 to 20 meters, composed of angular limestone fragments of the Upper Jurassic. This breccia benefits from a south - south-east exposure, ideal for the good maturity of the berries.
The AOC Seyssel produces still white wines from the single variety Altesse (or Roussette) which represents about 50 hectares of this appellation area. With the AOC Seyssel sparkling, the majority, the total production of these whites reaches 4,000 hectoliters annually.
The AOC Seyssel is a wine of character, with a nose of flowers such as violets, but also white flesh fruits. To be drunk within two or three years, the most tender and racy vintages are very good wines for laying down.
