The AOC Côtes-du-Forez comes from the Centre-Loire sub-region and merges with the Auvergne vineyard area. Perched at an altitude of 400-600m between Clermont-Ferrand and Saint-Etienne, the 180-hectare vineyard produces 6,000 hectoliters of red and rosé wines annually.
The wines of Côtes-du-Forez come from the only Gamay grape variety which, on these hot granite and volcanic soils, marks the tannin wines and thus offers them a good ageing potential. The climate offers favorable conditions for the ripening of the grapes thanks to a good exposure as well as westerly winds and rainfall attenuated by the Ferez mountains.
