The Coteaux-du-Tricastin AOC, renamed Grignan-les-Adhémar in 2010, covers 1,800 hectares of vineyard land between Montélimar and Bollène, on the left bank of the Rhône, north of the southern vineyards.
The vineyard is located in transition from the northern Rhône Valley to the south, and the terroir benefits from a Mediterranean climate influenced by the proximity of the relief. The Mistral wind, favors an exceptional sunshine, in an atmosphere however nuanced from one zone to another: hot and dry in the south of the vineyard, while it is cooler and wetter at the foot of the massifs.
Harvested and vinified in the traditional way, the AOP Grignan-les-Adhémar produces 52,000 hectoliters of red, rosé and white wines per year. In red, the compulsory grape variety is a minimum of 30% Syrah supplemented by Grenache noir, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault, and Marselan. Although little known, these are typical and generous wines. The reds are elegant and fruity.
