"""it was georges noëllat, nephew of charles noëllat (whose vines contributed to the formation of the jean jacques confuron, hudelot noëllat, and leroy estates) and great-grandfather of maxime cheurlin, the current owner, who founded this estate. maxime cheurlin took over the estate in 2010, after studying at the lycée viticole de beaune. he has invested himself fully and spared no effort, thus managing to greatly increase the quality of the wines, with notably much more accurate and precise maturation than in the past. the estate's winegrowing heritage is quite exceptional, with 1er and grand crus on vosne romanée, echézeaux and nuits saint-georges, but also several parcels of century-old vines. this vineyard is hand-worked and no chemical treatments are applied, and in the cellar, the vinification is done with indigenous yeasts. the wines from this estate reach a very high standard. there is no doubt that domaine georges noëllat is now part of the elite of the côte de nuits. the georges noëllat estate is above all a terroir and above all a family history. the estate covers nearly 5.5 hectares of first and great growths located in the prestigious valleys of vosne-romanée and nuits-saint-georges. since maxime cheurlin took over the management of the estate (his first vintage was 2010), the style of the house has been revolutionised. the key word is the emphasis on terroir. in the vineyard, everything is done by hand, no chemical treatments and the fermentations are triggered by indigenous yeasts. it seeks freshness, density and opulence in its youth, which will be refined in complexity and elegance with maturity. the grands-echézeaux grand cru has a nose of fresh red fruit, floral influences and almost invisible oak. on the palate, the wine is ample but refined, with good density and exceptional length. the tannins are noble and fine-grained, the silkiness and freshness are perfectly complementary and harmonious. this wine is made to be kept and will start to express itself after ten years of ageing.
