The AOC Côte-de-Nuits Villages was established in 1964. It concerns the communes of Fixin, Brochon, Premeaux, Comblanchien and Corgoloin located on the Côte de Nuits vineyard (the villages of Fixin and Brochon can also claim the appellation Côte de Beaune).
6,400 hectoliters of red wines are produced in this area each year. This red wines, for the majority, are made almost exclusively from the pinot noir grape variety, which gives its best expression in Burgundy.
